Evil Incremental - Version 0.2


Changes

This new update brings a lot of changes including,

  • A new feature : Invasions. Invasions are timed events where you must create a set amount of resources within a time frame. Succeeding will let you move to the next chapter. Failure is not dramatic, you can simply try again. This brings a bit of challenge to complement the active gameplay I wish to enable.
  • Leaderboards to track how fast you finish the game and to encourage replayability.
  • A rebalancing of most resources and progression.
  • New upgrades to the final resource to make the latter part of the game more enjoyable.
  • Many Quality of Life improvements.
  • Reworked some UI Elements.
  • Fixed some aspect ratio issues.

Along with that I've updated the Web build to include saving and loading on most browsers. However some browsers block such behavior - as such I've also added manual saving and loading for the WebGL version of the game. Once again I'll stress that this game is made for mobile and much more enjoyable there. Navigation is smoother and snappier, sounds are of higher quality and the overall experience superior.

Roadmap

I have several content updates lined up for future version. In general I want to encourage active gameplay as this is the design philosophy of Evil Incremental. That being said, I'm thinking of adding several more idle effects to the game so that players can prioritize some resources actively and let some idle effects work on the remaining resources. More information will come in due time. Here is a list of aimed updates and changes.

New Features

  1. Additional resources introducing new mechanics that remain unexplored in the current version. 
  2. More idle/passive boosts for those less inclined towards active gameplay.
  3. A moon system where players can switch moon sigils to change the state of the game and the night.
  4. More timing based elements to have moment to moment gameplay be more exciting (e.g a time window where players can tap a spirit on cooldown to instantly reset the cooldown).
  5. New sound effects to accompany any new spirits or chapters. Sound effects are a big part of the game and contribute massively to players imagining the world they are destroying.

Balancing

I don't want the game to become an unnecessary grind with no satisfying moments. As such I'm continually improving and tweaking elements of the game to make it more enjoyable. This will keep happening based off player feedback.
